Freshman Students
- The Secondary School Transcript/GED: It is the applicant's responsibility to arrange to have an official secondary school transcript or copy of their GED diploma and test scores forwarded to the Office of Admissions at Slippery Rock University. This should include your senior year course schedule and class rank at the close of the junior year.
- Required Freshman Testing: Slippery Rock University will accept either the ACT or SAT I for admission consideration. Use the Slippery Rock code number (ACT: 3716, SAT I: 2658) to direct an official copy of your test score report to Slippery Rock University. In addition to being required for admission to the university, test scores are also used during orientation for course registration and academic advisement.
- The Admission Examination: All candidates for admission should take either the ACT or SAT I. These test scores should be forwarded to the Office of Admissions directly from the testing service. Applicants out of high school for more than two years need not submit test
scores unless requested to do so by the Director of Admissions.
- OPTIONAL: High school counselor recommendation form: please print, fill out, and give to your high school counselor to report your application activity.
High School Counselor Recommendation Form
Transfer Students
Definition: The student who has registered in any post-secondary institution, during or after high school, regardless of length of time attended, is classified as a transfer student.
Eligibility: To be eligible for transfer from another regionally accredited institution, the student must have a minimum cumulative quality point rating. In the case of transfer from a non-accredited institution, the stipulated minimum average is slightly higher.
Eligibility for consideration as a freshman or transfer student does not imply an automatic offer of admission, nor does an offer of admission to the university imply admission to the student's chosen major. Transfer students must list on their application for admission and
submit official transcripts from all previously attended post secondary institutions regardless of the time in attendance. Failure to do so may lead to dismissal from the university. In addition, students failing to list course work from other colleges will not be permitted to petition for
the acceptance of these transfer credits after they have been admitted or readmitted to the university.
Application Procedure
In order to receive consideration for admission, an eligible student must file the following materials with the Office of Admissions:
- Application for admission.
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. Failure to disclose all schools attended, regardless of the amount of time attended, may lead to dismissal from Slippery Rock University.
- Students not in possession of an associate's degree from a post-secondary institution must supply an official high school transcript.
- Submit the nonrefundable application fee of $25.
If at the time an applicant is granted admission to Slippery Rock University he/she is enrolled at another institution, it will be understood that such admission has been granted on a provisional basis only. The student must actually receive an honorable dismissal,
academic and social, before official admission will be given. A person who, for any reason, is on academic suspension from another college or university may not be given consideration for transfer as a degree candidate until a period of at lease one calendar year has elapsed since their last semester of attendance in college.
Students are reminded that only the credits earned at other institutions are accepted in transfer to Slippery Rock University. The grades and QPA from other institutions will not be accepted in transfer.
Courses in which grades of D, F, or NC were earned at Slippery Rock University may not be repeated at another institution for transfer to Slippery Rock University.
